Funding the team
Starting with only borrowed boats, the Sharon High Sailing program has been built by the extraordinary fundraising efforts of the students and coaches as well as by the outstanding generosity of the community. A few years ago, several local businesses and other benefactors funded the acquisition of boats with $1,000.00 donations in return for which their name was permanently stenciled onto a sailboat hull. Annually we produce and sell our “Racing the Wind” calendar promoting local businesses with advertising, and during the holiday season, we sell premium Harbor Sweets chocolate. We are grateful to all of those who have helped us in the past including Eastern Bank which funded some new sails for us via a large grant to the Boosters Club in early 2008.
We must rely on fundraising on an ongoing basis for the maintenance and improvement of sailing equipment. The mainstay of our fundraising methods is the calendar we produce. The cover and selected pages from the 2008 calendar are represented below. The actual size of each page is 11“ x 17” unfolded.

Ordering Calendars
Calendars for the following year are usually available for sale in October when students on the team begin to peddle them around town and at school events. They may ordered on this website as well. Before the calendars are printed, pre–orders which help the team determine the number of calendars to produce will be happily accepted. If you would like to support the Sharon sailing team by ordering or pre–ordering calendars, please use the following link to display and print our order form (with instructions) using your browser's print function. Ordering Ads For The Calendars
An excellent way to support the team and promote your business at the same time is to place an Ad on the pages of the “Racing the Wind” calendar. You can supply your own Ad or have our designer create one for you based on your requirements and subject to your approval. Note that the Ads are various sizes, and they can be placed on a monthly page, on the page showing every month in the year, or on a page dedicated to advertisements. To request an Ad in the calendar, please print, complete, and return an Ad Order Form along with your payment before the calendar goes to the printer.
